This course is designed for A2 graduates ready to dive deeper into Dutch grammar and expand their conversational skills. We will guide you through the first half of the B1 level, with all explanations provided in clear and simple English.

✨ What You Will Master in This Course (B1.1 Level)

🔗 Master Complex Sentences (Bijzinnen): Finally understand and correctly use the “verb-to-the-end” rule in sub-clauses with conjunctions like terwijl, hoewel, and nadat.
🗣️ Express Your Opinions: Learn the vocabulary and sentence structures needed to share your thoughts, agree, and disagree on a variety of topics.
💡 Use the Conditional Tense (zou): Start speaking more politely and hypothetically by mastering the use of zou + infinitive.
📚 Proven Method & Materials: We use the acclaimed Nederlands in Actie textbook, the standard for reaching the B1 level, supplemented with extra resources to solidify your learning.
🎓 Path to B1 Certificate: This course covers the first half of the B1 level. Upon completion, you will be perfectly prepared for our B1.2 course to achieve your full B1 certificate.


🗣 Conversation Sessions

To ensure fluency and real-life practice, this course includes 3 extra conversation sessions (6 hours total):

  • 2 sessions after Chapters 2 & 4 (2 hours each)
  • 1 flexible, topic-based session after Chapter 5 (2 hours)

These sessions focus on active vocabulary, fluency, and real-life topics tailored to group interests (e.g., work, daily life, Dutch culture).

How many students are in each class?

We believe in a personal approach. To ensure everyone gets enough speaking time and individual attention from the instructor, our classes are kept small with a maximum of 8 students.

What is the language of instruction for the courses?

All our courses and workshops are taught with English support. The main language of instruction is Dutch to maximize immersion, but all grammar explanations, instructions, and answers to your questions can be provided in English to ensure you understand everything clearly.

I'm not sure about my Dutch level. What should I do?

No problem at all! We highly recommend starting with our free Online Level Test.

It takes about 20-25 minutes and will give you a clear recommendation for the perfect course or workshop for you.

Are the classes live or pre-recorded?

All our courses and workshops are 100% live and interactive. You'll be in a real-time class with your instructor and fellow students on Zoom, which allows you to ask questions and practice speaking.

Which book will be used during the classes?

Each course is structured around a specific, high-quality textbook. The required book (e.g., 'Nederlands in Gang','Nederlands in Actie', 'Opmaat' or 'TaalCompleet') is always clearly listed in the course description on the course page.

Is the textbook included in the course price?

The required textbook is not included in the course fee.

This allows you to choose the format you prefer (physical or digital).

After you enroll, You may choose where to but if you ask, we will provide you with a direct link to purchase the correct book.

Who will be our teacher?

All of our courses are led by experienced, certified instructors from our expert team.

For some of our programs, the instructor is assigned in advance and listed on the product page.

For others, the instructor is assigned closer to the start date.

Can I get a certificate?

Yes! A certificate of completion is awarded to all students who meet the 80% attendance requirement.

At the end of the course, there will be a final, non-binding exam to help you see your progress.

If you have special circumstances regarding attendance, please discuss them with us and your instructor.

What is the attendance policy, and what happens if I miss a class?

To ensure a dynamic learning environment and to be eligible for the certificate, an 80% attendance rate is required for our multi-week courses.

Please note: To protect the privacy of our students and to encourage open, spontaneous conversation, our live sessions are not recorded.

We understand that life can be busy! If you must miss a class, your instructor will provide you with the homework and materials for the missed session so you can keep up. If you are struggling with a topic from a class you missed, please let your instructor know, and we will do our best to help you catch up.

Can I join from outside the Netherlands?

Of course! Our online courses are open to learners from all over the world.

Please be aware that all class times are listed in the Amsterdam / Central European Time (CET) zone, so be sure to check your local time.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Our policy varies depending on the product type.

For Online Courses and Workshops:

We want you to be satisfied with your learning journey. For our online courses and workshops, we offer a refund period based on the following two conditions:

1. You can request a refund for up to 14 days after the date of purchase.
2.Your refund request must be submitted at least 7 full days before the scheduled start date of the course or workshop.

To be eligible for a full refund, your request must meet both of these conditions. This policy allows us to manage our small class sizes and ensure a great experience for all participants.

Cancellations made less than 7 days before the course start date are non-refundable.

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a course or workshop, you will be notified immediately and receive a full refund.
